#MadetoMove with Propel

July 25, 2016

One of the best things about living in New York City is that there is always something pretty darn awesome to do, especially when it comes to fitness. Whether it’s a new workout studio opening up, a meet up, or a beautiful day which allows for a run in Central Park, there are so many opportunities to break a sweat. So when Propel invited me to their #MadetoMove launch event on the evening of July 21 and their morning workout and breakfast the following day, my answer was obviously, duh!

The launch event took place in a beautifully open space on the twenty first floor, providing a 360 degree view of New York City. We kicked off the evening with a mash-up workout with Kira Stokes and Nicole Winhoffer. Kira Stokes provided an intense circuit based workout which got my heart pumping and sweat dripping down my face quickly. Next up was Nicole Winhoffer. I had heard so many amazing things about her, but I have to admit, I was a little anxious about taking her dance based class! I’m the opposite of a dancer and rhythm/choreography is not my strong suit. I certainly felt out of my comfort zone as I attempted to shake my booty and “crack a walnut” by moving my knees in and out, but I was impressed and energized by Nicole’s presence and personality- and dang, that girl can move her body!

We finished up the evening by toweling off and listening to a live performance from Grammy Nominated Best New Artist, Tori Kelly, followed by a DJ set by Hannah Bronfman.

Fast forward to day two! I had an early wake up call of 5:15am so that I could make my way downtown by 7am. Several of my girlfriends were able to join, which always makes an intense workout a little bit more fun! We jump started our day with Speedplay LA led by Xavier Quimbo, who led us from circuits, to rowing, back to circuits again for an hour.

You can definitely say that we earned our breakfast that morning! Once the workout was complete, we rehydrated, took plenty of photos, and made our way to a beautiful breakfast. We recovered with food, coffee, smoothies, hair braiding, and an awesome Q&A by Jen Ator, Fitness Director at Women’s Health.
